Tell Patients the Benefits

When trying to get patients to schedule, you have to tell them the benefits of getting the treatment or chances are they will not schedule or they will and then break the appointment later.

Another thing to consider is adding value to the hygiene visit while telling them the benefits of keeping that future appointment. Patients still think “It’s just a cleaning.”

To add value the hygienist can say something like, “There have been studies that document that patients who come in every 4 to 6 months can remain free of decay and periodontal disease a lot more than those who come in less often.”

Of course, we all know this, our public has to be reminded. This can go a long way with the patient that doesn’t understand the need or see the value. They may have to hear it more than once.

Happy Scheduling!
